Description

Perfect for easy holiday baking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (225g)
  • 1 cup granulated white sugar (200g)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2½ cups all purpose flour (315g)
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • Mini M&Ms (about 1 cup for topping)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat 1 cup softened butter and 1 cup granulated white sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and beat until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine 2½ cups all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon baking powder, and ¼ teaspoon kosher salt.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until the dough forms.
  6. Scoop 1 tablespoon portions and roll into balls, then gently flatten each between your palms to create a flat surface.
  7. Press the top of each dough ball into Mini M&Ms, adding a few extra if desired, and place cookies 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Refrigerate the M&M coated dough balls on the baking sheet for 30 minutes.
  9. While the dough chills, preheat the oven to 350°F.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
  11. Cool cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
