Description

Creamy, classic mashed potatoes. 


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds gold potatoes
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream, room temperature 
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt


Instructions

  1. Peel and chop your potatoes into even pieces, then place them in a pot and cover with cold water.
  2. Bring to a boil, then lower to a gentle simmer and cook for about 15 minutes, until the potatoes are tender. Use a sharp knife and stick it into several pieces of potato, if the knife pushes through easily, the potatoes are done.
  3. Turn off the burner. Drain well and return the potatoes to the warm pot on the hot burner that has been turned off. 
  4. Add 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into tablespoon size pieces, 1/3 cup heavy cream, and 2 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt.
  5. Mix with a hand mixer on the lowest setting until smooth and creamy.
  6. Taste, adjust for your salt preference, and serve warm.
