Description

Add a little kick to the traditional side dish!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces baby carrots
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Add 2 inches of water to a pot and place your steamer basket inside.

  2. Add the carrots to the basket, then bring the water to a boil.

  3. Once boiling, cover the pot with a lid and steam the carrots until they are fork-tender.

  4. Carefully remove the steamer basket and pour out the water from the pot.

  5. Return the empty pot to the stove over low to medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons of butter and let it melt.

  6. Stir in ¼ cup honey, 2 tablespoons light brown sugar, ½ teaspoon kosher salt, and ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper until combined.

  7. Add the steamed carrots back to the pot and stir to coat them evenly in the sauce.

  8. Let the sauce simmer and thicken, stirring frequently to ensure the carrots stay evenly coated.

  9. Once the sauce has thickened and the carrots are fully coated, remove from heat and serve!

Notes

Use store bought hot honey in place of traditional honey for more spice.
