Perfect for game day.
There’s just something about a crispy chicken wing that always hits the spot, especially during football season! I wanted a version that’s easy to make at home but still crispy and full of flavor. These Oven Baked Chicken Wings are simple, versatile, and always a hit.

The Crazy Cost of Wings!
When’s the last time you’ve ordered take-out wings? I can’t believe a dozen chicken wings is $30 these days! With football season here again, it’s a constant shuffle of different foods every Sunday to keep everyone appeased. Some days it’s pizza and wings. But wow do I struggle paying those prices to feed a crowd.
I played around with a few different variations of wings and finally landed on these! Everyone loved them. You can sauce them how you like or leave them dry. Mild for some, hot for others, it gave me a base to work with. Plus, it’s very little hands on. Yes, it takes some time to bake, but for me it’s the prep time that can be the killer. I want to be out there watching the games too!

Oven baked chicken wings are best eaten right after cooking. They do lose their crisp after going in the fridge. You could try reheating in the oven or air fryer to try bringing them back to life.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to use buffalo sauce?
You can use any wing sauce you like! This is a good base recipe to make oven baked chicken wings. You can even eat them dry and just dip!
Why aluminum-free baking powder?
The baking powder helps the wings to get a nice crisp. Aluminum-free is to avoid the potential metallic taste baking powder can have. When you have a dish this simple, that flavor can come through easier, ruining the taste of your wings. I have heard some say they can’t tell, so it’s up to you! If you’re saucing them like I do, you may not be able to tell.
Can I use frozen chicken wings?
My favorite brand of chicken wings – Springer Mountain Farms – is sold in the freezer section! I defrost them in the fridge before starting with Step 1 of this recipe.
