Description

An extra chocolatey twist on banana bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ cups ripe bananas, mashed, about 4 bananas
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup granulated white sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed, plus 1 tablespoon for topping
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1¾ cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • ¾ cup chopped chocolate or chocolate chunks
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips, for topping

Instructions

  1. Melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter and let it cool.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×5 loaf pan.
  3. In a bowl, mash your bananas until you have 1½ cups.
  4. In a large bowl or using a stand mixer, mix ½ cup granulated sugar, ½ cup brown sugar, and the 4 tablespoons melted butter until fully combined.
  5. Add in 2 large eggs and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract and mix.
  6. Stir in the 1½ cups mashed banana and ¼ cup heavy cream until just combined.
  7. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1¾ cups all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, ¼ teaspoon kosher salt, and ¼ teaspoon cinnamon.
  8. Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until combined and no flour streaks remain.
  9. Fold in ¾ cup chocolate chunks and ½ cup chopped walnuts.
  10. Pour the batter into your loaf pan.
  11. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of brown sugar evenly over the top, then top with ¼ cup mini chocolate chips.
  12. Bake for 50-60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  13. Let cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

You can use chocolate chips in the batter if it is all you have on hand.
